Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about services, pricing, dyslexia, and the enrollment process.

Structured literacy is an evidence-based approach to reading instruction that is explicit, systematic, cumulative, and multisensory. It teaches the structure of language, including phonology, morphology, and syntax, in a logical sequence. This approach is recommended by the International Dyslexia Association and is effective for all readers, not just those with dyslexia.
Intervention is best for learners who are significantly behind in reading or have a diagnosed or suspected reading disability such as dyslexia. Intervention follows a formal, structured literacy protocol and requires a minimum of two sessions per week. Flexible tutoring is a better fit for learners who are performing near grade level but need extra support, homework help, or skill maintenance. During a free consultation, I can help you determine which service is the best match.
I work with learners of all ages, from early readers in kindergarten through adults. Structured literacy intervention and dyslexia support is effective at any age, and it is never too late to build stronger reading skills.
One-on-one intervention is $80 per hour with a minimum of two sessions per week. Flexible tutoring is $65 per hour with flexible scheduling. Small group pricing varies based on group size. I am happy to discuss options during a free consultation.
Yes. Sessions are available both in person and virtually. Virtual sessions use interactive tools and screen sharing to provide the same structured, multisensory instruction as in-person sessions. Many families find virtual sessions to be a convenient and effective option.
Start by filling out the new client intake form. It takes about 10–15 minutes. I will follow up within 24–72 hours to discuss your needs. From there, we can schedule an optional free 30-minute consultation, agree on a schedule, and begin sessions.
For one-on-one intervention, a minimum of two sessions per week is required. Research consistently shows that frequent, consistent sessions produce the strongest results in structured literacy intervention. Flexible tutoring does not have a minimum frequency, and sessions can be scheduled weekly, biweekly, or as needed.
Dyslexia is a language-based learning difference that primarily affects reading, spelling, and writing. It is neurological in origin and is not related to intelligence. People with dyslexia often have difficulty with phonological processing, which is the ability to recognize and manipulate the sounds in language. With the right instruction, individuals with dyslexia can become strong, confident readers.
No. A formal diagnosis is not required to begin services. Many families come to me because they have noticed their child is struggling, even without a formal evaluation. I use ongoing assessment and progress monitoring to guide instruction and ensure each learner is getting the right support.
I ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged the full session rate. I understand that life happens, and I try to be flexible whenever possible. For full details, see my practice policies.
I use ongoing progress monitoring and assessment to track each learner's growth. You will receive regular updates on your child's progress, including what we are working on, what milestones have been reached, and what comes next. Communication with families is a priority, and I want you to feel informed and involved every step of the way.
